Our team is currently looking for a computational neuroscientist who is passionate about building advanced algorithms for performing inference on complex neural and physiological signals. This person should have a strong research background and have made contributions to both basic science and to the development of novel data analytical methods. You are skilled in navigating large and noisy data sets, embrace uncertainty, and have a strong foundation in machine learning, scientific computing, and data visualization. You are a great teammate with excellent interpersonal skills, and have a dedication to conducting impactful research in support of deepening our understanding of social behavior.

Key Qualifications Key Qualifications
  • Strong theoretical and applied background in some or all of: unsupervised/supervised learning, deep learning, neural coding and bio-inspired computation, graph theory, optimization theory, information theory, and control and dynamical systems.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and modeling large scale data sets from human social behavior including, but not limited to speech patterns, gestures, emotion, communication, social dynamics, interaction, and behavioral synchrony.
  • Experience in statistical and signal processing, time series analysis, time-frequency analysis, and image and audio processing methodologies to investigate multimodal datasets.
  • Fluent in scientific computing, prototyping, and ML tools (e.g., Python, MatLab, and ML toolboxes such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
  • Fluency in working with both 2D and 3D facial landmark data and optional experience in modeling facial expressions in-motion using FACS.
  • Hardware and software experience with multimodal data acquisition, instrumentation, and human-machine interfaces is a plus.
  • Prior experience in industry that involved prototyping inference models for productization is a plus.


Description Description
This is a multi-faceted scientific role that will require you to be versatile across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. This person will work closely with other scientists and engineers to rapidly carry out studies that help drive research and development. You will have the following responsibilities: Carry out extensive analytics that aim to pull out meaningful and actionable insights from complex multimodal datasets. Harness your insights to design multimodal inference algorithms. Understand and help to build state of the art data acquisition systems. Help to architect and port real-time algorithms to a variety of platforms. Build analytical tools that will be used by other members of a cross-functional team. PhD (or MS and 3 or more years of research experience) in Systems or Computational Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
